Position:            Energy Advice Caseworker (Trainee)
Salary Range:   £20,253 – £22,937 dependent on experience

We are looking for a suitable candidate who would be interested in developing their existing advice skills and gaining experience in project work.  We will provide a full training and support package.

Funded by British Gas Energy Trust, you will join a team of 6 advisers in our Energy Advice Team. This team aims to tackle fuel poverty in Manchester by providing a service specifically targeted at the most vulnerable and financially excluded families.

Following initial training, the adviser will provide a flexible menu of services including money advice, income maximisation, welfare benefits and energy efficiency advice via a range of outreach venues.  You will also deliver energy awareness sessions to community groups and frontline staff in partner organisations.

Due to the continued success of our Money Advice Contact Centre we have been awarded additional funding and are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to be at the forefront of money advice delivery and join our existing team to deliver debt advice via email and webchat to clients across England and Wales.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of one year’s full-time equivalent experience of delivering debt advice and recent experience of delivering debt advice via digital channels. 

If you don’t have the necessary skills and experience to apply for the Digital Money Advice Caseworker post, but have a passion for helping people resolve their financial problems, we are offering a trainee position.  We can offer comprehensive training and support to enable you to achieve competence as a Digital Money Advice Caseworker within 6-12 months.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated person to deliver assisted digital help from within our service at the Town Hall and community access points across the city.  The aim of the service is to direct our clients towards the appropriate resources they need to resolve their problem this will include:

o    Making a brief assessment of the client’s enquiry and provide basic information
o    Helping clients to access online advice and information and assisting with submission of            electronic forms
o    Supporting clients in accessing our other advice services
o    Supporting volunteers during sessions
o    Assist Manchester residents to make claims for the UC live service (for claimants
      not currently within a Full Service area)
o    Assist residents to make and maintain claims for the UC Full Service as this is
      rolled out across Manchester (see service specification for full details)
o    Refer or signpost claimants to other opportunities to develop or enhance their
      digital skills as needed
o    Refer or signpost claimants to other sources of support e.g. for budgeting and/or
      debt advice or to improve English language skills

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and competent individual to supervise the team and assist with the delivery of telephone and digital advice services to clients.  The successful applicant will have successfully completed the Citizens Advice Generalist Advice programme (or equivalent) and have a minimum of six months’ full-time equivalent experience in both the delivery and supervision of advice.  They will have:

●    An ability to deal confidently and sensitively with members of the public as part of our frontline service
